New Family Member

Chesney has been asking for a new dog who will play with him for a few months. I have been doing a little research into what would be a good fit for us, and checking all the shelter websites for a week or so. Yesterday we went to the Saginaw Animal Shelter, and adopted a sweet little dachshund mix. We are not really sure what she is mixed with, maybe chihuahua or whippet. Anyways she is fantastically cute.

 

I was not sure how Opie and Icabod would react to her, but they were really good with her. At first they were not sure, but they have become fast friends. I think that she must have been a house pet before, because she is house trained and good on a leash. She has only been here a little over 24 hours, and seems like part of the family.

Chesney and Zach have been having a good time playing fetch, and tug-a-war with her. She is really playful and full of energy. We tried out the name Buttercup but decided on Skippy at the last minute. She is a frisky little girl, who loves to hop and jump, plus she is the color of peanut butter. Skippy just like the peanut butter seemed perfect.  We just love her and hope to spend many years with her.

Chesney and the Shark Attack

Chesney and I were reading one of his favorite books (All about Sharks) the other night. We got to a page about shark attacks on people (I was a little concerned about his reaction to this with the impending beach trip), so we talked about this page a little before moving on. Instead of being scared, in typical Chesney behavior he took it all in stride, even telling me he was attacked by a shark.

I had no idea what he was talking about. He starting telling me about the time he was putting up his toy shark in the bath and it fell on him. I laughed when I realized he was right, he HAD been attacked by a shark. When it fell off the toy holder, the sharp point of the fin hit him right in the chest and left a huge whelp. He would not play with his shark for a few days, but he is" back in the water" now. It is funny how kids and adults look at things so differently. Having a preschooler really makes you look at the world in a whole new way.

Chesney the Artist

Chesney LOVES to draw. He can sit for close to an hour and do nothing but draw. Today he drew me a picture of the swing set in the backyard that I think is quite good.

He added in flowers and put a flag on top, but all the little colorful mark are very accurate weeds. I guess he is telling me it is time for the weed and feed. I will post a few of my other favorite Chesneys.

Chesney's Best Buddy

Chesney loves his friend Seth. They do all things "boy" together. They love playing with trains, cars, trucks, dirt, bugs, and animals. Their favorite boy past time is having a burping contest! Chesney looked at Seth the other day and told him " Seth, I love you, Seth". It was pretty darn cute. Now that the "I love you " barrier has been broken they tell each other at least once a day. I took them to the park today and Seth would not go down the big slide without Chesney. Chesney held his hand and said "Come on buddy, I will not let you fall". Now that is what I call Friendship!

Super Bowl Weekend Fun

Chesney got to try out the child bungee jumping at the mall on Saturday evening. He has been talking about it ever since. I am not sure how to turn it around, so just look at it sideways!

Today we went to Sundance Square (Super Bowl Headquarters) and checked out the ESPN stage. As we were watching the ESPN guys, we saw Jennifer Aniston and Adam  Sandler on the screen. They were about ten feet from us surrounded by who knows how many crazy people, so of course we had to go join them. We got to see tons of sad displays of "Jennifer I love you"s. Who knew there were so many grown men who would profess their love for a woman, they do not even know, in public. The women with "The future Mrs. Adam Sandler " t-shirts I expected, but really guys I am disappointed. Anyways it was entertaining to say the least. I still can't believe that the Super Bowl is being held about 45 minutes away. Next week it will all seem a distant dream... I will be able to have a nice walk around downtown, and stop in at the Corner Bakery (fabulous by the way) without being mobbed. I can't wait!

Snow, snow and more snow...

We have been at home since Tuesday because of the bad weather (well more because of the bad drivers...). Chesney has not even wanted to go out and play in the snow because he was too cold. Maybe later today I can coax him outside and get a few more pictures of him playing. Here are a few from the other day.
